6 Habits to make your skin look airbrushed in real life

My journey with skincare has been a rollercoaster ride, marked by painful inflammation, stubborn acne, and persistent dryness. Even as my acne began to clear up, my skin lacked that radiant glow I so desperately desired. But fear not, because I've discovered six game-changing habits that have transformed my skin and can do the same for you.

1. Hydration

Hydration is key to achieving smooth, radiant skin. I've made it a habit to drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep my skin hydrated from the inside out. Additionally, I use hydrating skincare products like serums and moisturisers to lock in moisture and plump up my skin, giving it a youthful appearance.

2. Incorporating Retinol or Growth Factors in the Skincare Routine

Retinol and growth factors are powerhouse ingredients that promote cell turnover, stimulate collagen production, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. By incorporating these potent ingredients into my skincare routine, I've noticed significant improvements in the texture and tone of my skin. It's smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking than ever before.

3. Adequate Sleep

Getting enough sleep is crucial for skin health and overall well-being. I prioritise a consistent sleep schedule, aiming for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night. Not only does adequate sleep help reduce stress levels and promote hormonal balance, but it also allows my skin to repair and regenerate overnight, resulting in a fresh, glowing complexion.

4. Eating Mostly Anti-Inflammatory Foods and Balancing Blood Sugar

What you eat plays a significant role in the health of your skin. I've adopted a diet rich in anti-inflammatory foods like fruits, vegetables, fatty fish, and nuts while minimising processed sugars and refined carbs. This dietary approach helps reduce inflammation in the body, balance blood sugar levels, and promote clear, radiant skin from within.

5. LED Therapy

LED therapy has been a game-changer in my skincare routine. The gentle, non-invasive treatment stimulates collagen production, reduces acne-causing bacteria, and improves overall skin texture, leaving my complexion looking smooth and luminous. I get mine done in clinic but there are plenty of at-home devices you can pick up!

6. Correcting Omega-3 to Omega-6 Ratio

Maintaining the right balance of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids is essential for healthy skin. I prioritise omega-3-rich foods like fatty fish, flaxseeds, and chia seeds while reducing my intake of omega-6-heavy processed foods and vegetable oils. This dietary shift helps combat inflammation, support skin barrier function, and promote a clear, glowing complexion.
