Crispy Honey Garlic Air Fryer Chicken
Looking for a quick and flavourful chicken dish that’s both healthy and satisfying? This air fryer honey garlic chicken is just what you need! Tender chunks of chicken breast are coated in a blend of spices and cooked to perfection in the air fryer, resulting in a dish that’s crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.
The highlight of this recipe is the homemade honey garlic sauce, which combines the rich flavours of minced garlic, sweet honey, and coconut aminos, offering a delightful twist on the traditional soy sauce.
What sets this recipe apart is the use of arrowroot powder, a healthier alternative to cornstarch. It not only gives the chicken a light and crispy coating but is also gluten-free, making it suitable for various dietary preferences. In just about 30 minutes, you can whip up a meal that’s perfect for busy weeknights or meal prepping for the week ahead.
Serve this delicious honey garlic chicken over a bed of fluffy jasmine rice, and don’t forget to garnish with fresh spring onions and white sesame seeds for an extra burst of flavour and texture. Your family will be asking for seconds!
Crispy Honey Garlic Air Fryer Chicken
Ingredients
Instructions
- Chop chicken into chunks and place in a bowl
- Into the bowl add arrowroot powder, salt, pepper, ground coriander seeds, nutmeg, ginger, paprika, and sage.
- Stir well to evenly coat the chicken.
- Put the chicken into the air fryer and cook according to your air fryers specifications for chicken. (I did 13 minutes at 180C, and flipped them over halfway through).
- In a small saucepan add olive oil and minced garlic on a low heat for 1-2 minutes.
- Add coconut aminos and honey (add honey after coconut aminos so it doesn’t harden).
- Simmer together for 5 minutes before removing from heat and allowing to cool, it should be frothing and a golden brown colour.
- When the chicken is finished toss it in with the sauce to coat and then serve. Works well served with spring onions and white sesame seeds on a bed of freshly cooked jasmine rice
