Hack your Motivation

Hack your Motivation

Motivation is an interesting concept, because it’s something that a lot of people seem to think is crucial to maintaining their training routine... but the reality is far from that. It's easy to get excited and start a new workout regimen, but sticking to it for the long haul can be a challenge if you don’t have the right mindset about it. Whether you're trying to lose fat, gain muscle, or improve your overall fitness, there are times when you may find yourself lacking the drive to continue. Fortunately, there are ways to hack your motivation to stay consistent with your training routine. In this post, we'll explore some of these methods and how you can implement them in your life.

1 - Set Realistic Goals

The first step to staying motivated is to set realistic goals. It's easy to get caught up in the excitement of starting a new workout routine and set unrealistic goals that are too difficult to achieve. When you set goals that are attainable, you're more likely to feel motivated to continue working towards them. Set short-term and long-term goals and track your progress to stay motivated.

2 - Find Your "Why"

To stay motivated, you need to have a reason for why you're doing what you're doing. Ask yourself why you want to get fit or improve your health. Maybe you want to feel more confident, improve your overall health, or compete in a specific event. Whatever your reason may be, remind yourself of it often to stay motivated. Don’t get caught up in doing what you feel pressured to do by others around you, it’s important to dive deep and find what actually is going to keep you consistent. This is what I love to explore with my clients when we work together closely in a 1:1 capacity. Learn more here.

3 - Create a Routine

Creating a routine can help you stay motivated to work out. When you establish a routine, it becomes a habit, and it's easier to stay consistent. Set a specific time and day to work out and make it a non-negotiable part of your schedule. This will help you develop the discipline needed to stick with your training routine. I personally like to schedule out my week in advanced. If you’re a part of the MORE+ Membership I’d recommend watching the “Scheduling & Planning” workshop where I walk you through my planning process step by step. 4 - Reward Yourself

Rewarding yourself for hitting your goals can be a powerful motivator. Set up a reward system for yourself, such as treating yourself to a massage or buying a new workout outfit when you hit a specific milestone. Knowing that there's a reward waiting for you at the end can help keep you motivated to push through the tough days.

5 - Surround Yourself with Motivation

Surrounding yourself with motivation can help you stay motivated. Follow people who have similar goals to you, join a fitness community, or workout or start a new routine with a friend who shares similar goals. Being surrounded by people who are motivated to achieve their goals can help inspire and motivate you to keep going.

Staying motivated to work out can be challenging, but it's essential for achieving your fitness goals. By setting realistic goals, finding your "why," creating a routine, rewarding yourself, and surrounding yourself with motivation, you can hack your motivation and stay consistent with your training routine. Remember, consistency is key when it comes to achieving your fitness goals, so stay motivated and keep pushing towards your goals.
